Fever, infection, diabetes, blood pressure and long-term medical illness in adults.

General Medicine facilities at Vidya Shanti Hospital

About the department

General Medicine is the entry point for most patients who are not sure which specialist they need. Physicians assess undiagnosed symptoms, treat common medical illness, and refer on to urology, surgery or gynaecology when the problem belongs there.

A large share of the work is long-term management of diabetes, hypertension and thyroid disorders — conditions that need steady follow-up rather than one-time treatment. Instructions are written in Hindi and a follow-up date is fixed before the patient leaves.
