About the department
The Department of Urology is led by Dr. Devendra Garg, M.S., M.Ch., a former consultant at AIIMS New Delhi, and is the department most patients come to us for. It handles the full range of urinary tract illness in men and women — stone disease, obstruction, infection, prostate problems and cancers of the kidney and bladder.
Most stone procedures here are endoscopic. Instead of an open cut, the stone is reached through the natural urinary passage or through a small tract in the back, and broken with a laser or pneumatic energy. For patients this generally means less pain, a shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to work.
Every patient gets an ultrasound or CT-based assessment before a plan is offered, and where a stone is small enough to pass with fluids and medication, that conservative route is tried first.

When to consult
Book a consultation with this department if you notice any of the following. If symptoms are severe or sudden, come to the emergency department instead.
- Pain in the side or back that comes in waves and does not settle
- Any episode of blood in the urine
- A scan done elsewhere has reported a kidney or bladder stone
- Urinary stream has become weak, or you strain to start
- You have been treated for stones before and symptoms have returned
