Women's Health

Pregnancy care, high-risk pregnancy monitoring and treatment of menstrual and hormonal disorders.

Consultation room used for antenatal and gynaecology appointments

Overview

Women's health at Vidya Shanti Hospital runs from the first antenatal visit through delivery and recovery, and covers the gynaecological conditions that affect women before and after their childbearing years.

Consultations are private and unhurried, and the plan for each visit — tests, medicines, next date — is written down so that the family can follow it at home.

Pregnancy

  • Pregnancy care

Registration in the first trimester, scheduled scans and blood tests, nutrition advice and delivery planning.

  • High risk pregnancy

Closer monitoring where there is raised blood pressure, gestational diabetes, anaemia, a previous caesarean or a twin pregnancy.

  • Antenatal care

Weight, blood pressure and haemoglobin recorded at every visit, with iron and calcium supplementation as needed.

  • Postnatal care

Recovery checks for the mother, feeding support, contraception counselling and newborn review.

Gynaecology

  • Menstrual disorders

Heavy, painful, irregular or absent periods investigated with ultrasound and hormone testing before treatment is advised.

  • PCOS

Polycystic ovary syndrome managed with weight and lifestyle measures first, and medication where cycles, skin or fertility require it.

  • Menopause care

Advice and treatment for hot flushes, sleep disturbance, mood changes and bone health after menopause.
